Soc. Event

Log entry for the 15th of March 2015.

Monday, I continue to Serve the Nation and after consuming a Skill Pill proceeded with the ongoing slaughter of Werewolves, as is normal they gave me wood. There is some exciting news, well exciting for me, the Karma Killer reached tier 5.7, it has been a long time coming but it’s crawling it’s way to its next tier upgrade. I managed to crawl my way to 2083/5000 Werewolves, not even half way, I feel I’m racing against the Karma Killer for completion of a mission.

Friday, it was quite late when I joined and was hoping a Zombie Kong would be in progress, it was and I joined at wave 6, there seemed to be 4 or 5 people doing this so I was optimistic that it would not take too long. After wave 8 was over and I was the only one still there I gave up for the night.

Saturday, no Kong at login so it was Werewolves, Werewolves, Werewolves after 3 hunts of different lengths I had reached 2316/5000. Not the most exciting or varied day but that’s why they describe it as a grind. Later it was Space Skilling Saturday and after that a Sub-warp journey to Crystal Palace in readiness for a Soc. Event tomorrow evening.

Sunday, Wolta and I teamed in Dome 2 against the Kreltin, I’m not sure if we won but as an individual I was not far short, we managed a couple of globals as “Chug’s Nomads”, it had been a while since we teamed as we are mostly on separate planets now so it was good to take this opportunity. I’m fairly sure Wolta was switching between using and amp and not in order to even up the numbers when it comes to the mission, I ended at 322/5000 for the Kreltin stage IV mission.

Later I descended to the surface of Calypso where I sorted my outstanding auction purchases and added a few more to give me 5 tiers of Accuracy Enhancers on the Karma Killer, I tried my luck at Fight Club, in order to test this configuration, it seemed reasonable. I did get killed on round 4 when I was pinned to the wall but returned to finish the job. I put quite a few items on auction, one of which sold the same day and several of which I expect not to sell.

Later still, Soc. Event time; Tiger had organised a PvP event for us to participate in. This consisted of 4 rounds using en-knuckles kindly supplied by Tiger. Each of us participants brought some items to be pooled as a prize for the final round. As everyone knows, when it comes to PvP I suck, so I was expecting to do badly.

Ding Ding, round 1; This was a 1 on 1 event winner stays on and involved the 2 pugilists being perched atop a blade of rock, if you fall off you lose, if you are killed you lose. The first fight was Ulleh vs PBG with PBG emerging as the victor, in the second Tiger took on PBG and won when she fell from the blade, in the third it was Tiger vs myself, whilst he dodged about punching me I stood there and just tried to hit back, it took a while but eventually he beat me, it was when I was at the revive I noticed I was still in walk mode, it may have made a difference but I doubt it.

Ding Ding, round 2; This was all 4 of us in a mass brawl in the water, I kept out of the way to start with and when the others were weakened moved in to be killed, which of course I was. I just don’t seem to be able to turn fast enough.

Ding Ding, round 3; Again a brawl but this time in the forest, recognising my weakness I climbed a tree to a point where there was little space behind me and waited to be attacked. I was attacked but I still could not turn fast enough and PBG managed to get behind me somehow. Another fail but I had lasted much longer, as a strategy this was my best bet.

Ding Ding, round 4; The final round, Tiger was not taking part however if he was hit he would hit someone else, this round was to be fought on a large area at the top of a mountain. So far the prizes had all been supplied by Tiger, in this round the prizes were the pool of items us participants had contributed. We were given a chance to take positions before the brawl began. I found a promontory where I could stand, to my right was a sheer drop behind me and to my left the ground sloped away quite steeply, I positioned myself as far back as possible and faced the plateau, Ulleh came at me first, due to the height difference of the ground I was looking straight at her breasts, distracting yes but I kept punching just the same, Ulleh did try to get behind me but fell down the slope and it slowed down her return enough for me to turn and face her again, it was not long before I killed her off, at which point PBG attacked. Again the breasts in the face, again the attempt to dodge behind me, I was really low on health far lower than PBG when she tried to get behind me and fell down the sheer cliff, the topography came to the rescue. I had won the final round, surprisingly by using my brains!

Afterwards we all went and fisted a few Longu before everyone but myself logged. I proceeded to make some welding wire, 548 clicks in total, a small loss was incurred but I made nearly 28PED of welding wire and drank a reasonable quantity of Jim Beam while I did so. After which I logged.

This weeks return was about 82% with a loss of nearly 440PED, not too bad.

A little more activity perhaps

Log entry for the 22nd of February 2015.

Monday, my week begins in space, as I’m here I decide to assist in controlling the number of Cosmic Horrors in the Calypso training area, we all have to do our bit, imagine space if we did not, just one big mass of writhing tentacles, you would need more than warp drive to get through that. Later I descend to the Calypso surface and tried my hand at fight club, I am killed by a critical hit in round 4 but return to finish the trial. I also meet Tiger, PBG and Lucky there, Soc. members who it’s nice to see after a long absence.

Thursday, I am not there but PBG hits a very nice mining HOF on FOMA, nearly 26k of iron stone. To my knowledge this is the biggest HOF any in the Soc. have had.

Friday, I visit my old adversaries the Rextelum, both East of Saba Camp and on the island in 2 separate hunts, I do not do too badly and finish with 15927/30000 points in the Supreme Rextelum Slayer iron challenge, it is slow going but I will get there. I also spend some time making some welding wire, this has never been profitable but I have lots of materials to make these and it can’t be much more expensive than just buying the wire. Many auctions are placed for my collection of stackables, I really must auction the collection of items I have but not today.

Saturday, I log in for Space Skilling Saturday and find that many auctions have already sold.

Sunday, a Warp Transport for Drop Zone, lots of messing about at Next Island to get one of their members there before I Warp back to Calypso for the first Soc. event we have had in years, this was a Beacon Mission, not a big one but big enough, Tiger had arranged it, it was attended by him, PBG, Lucky and myself who provided the Beacon, it had been in store for years, sadly Wolta could not make it. Tiger is intending to run more events, maybe it will be a return to the old days, I hope so. We all did quite well out of the mission once MU was taken into account. After I made a little more welding wire before beginning my Sub-warp journey back to Next Island. Ending my week as it started aboard Pathfinder XXXI.

Taking being a Sleepyhead seriously.

Log entry for the 8th of February 2015.

It seems being a Sleepyhead is going to my head and I’m rather liking it. 4 day siestas are definitely the way to go.

Monday, I visit the Underground, the tube stations have rubbish names and there’s no proper tube map. I try some Oratan Miners and manage nearly 5 PED profit, I had a very small celebration drinking a shot of beer, pissed that up the wall!

Wolta and Myself try a key 6, these are always both intense and fun. We were both surprised to be getting loot from the mobs we encountered and to make things a little easier both dropped a loot pill. At the end we could find no chest and were both disappointed, we took the TP out of there and after totalling the results I found I had lost over 200 PED and had a return that was just over 30%. I have to say that sucked and I was regretting my earlier extravagance re that shot of beer.

Later I tried an Oratan camp and then some more Miners where I managed to lose another 130 PED, really not my day, I don’t like Mondays.

Siesta time, that beer really went to my head.

Saturday, I awoke feeling refreshed and full of hope, Black Monday was in the past and it was time for super lucky shiny golden Saturday. The Oratan Miners owed me some PED so I went to collect, they pleaded poverty and somehow I ended up losing another 120 PED. Gits!

Having had enough of being fleeced I invested a few PED in an Explosive Projectiles II Blueprint and a further 100 in Nanocubes before setting to work at a manufacturing terminal, I was still optimistic about super lucky shiny golden Saturday in spite of my earlier setback and was pleased to have lost only a little under 11 PED.

Later I headed into space for super lucky shiny golden Space Skilling Saturday, the Cosmic Horrors were bound to have something, how wrong I was, I watched as super lucky shiny golden Saturday transformed into awful unlucky smelly shit brown Saturday and by the time it was over I had lost a further 145 PED.

Sunday, all hope had been beaten out of me by something that was both brown and sticky. I was considering just staying in space and chatting with people but I was within just over 2% of gaining level 57 in Laser Pistoleer (Hit) so I descended to the surface and made my way North East to take on the Otorugi with no amps fitted to the Karma Killer, I had 500 PED of universal ammo and decided to just keep shooting until it had run out. I managed 2 globals, 1 of which was into 3 digits, got to 57.0045 in Laser Pistoleer (Hit), woohoo and killed 96 Otorugi which brought me to the grand total of 96/1200 in the IFN Otorugi Stage 3 challenge. Of course I lost PED, well almost, actually I lost PEC, 78 of them but hey that’s almost profit.

During the week 4 additional Soc. members logged in and played quite a lot, Tiger, PBG, Lucky and Ulleh. I hope to visit Calypso next week so we can hunt together for a while, it would be like old times.

Nocturaline purchased an Equus but did not get the UL thruster and warp drive, she is hoping they will show up on Monday.

The week in summary, I lost over 600PED with a return of almost 82%, slept quite a lot and got to chat with some old friends, praise the Ols. Next week I may decide to sleep more.

The thin green line

Log Entry for April the 27th 2014

I spent the weekdays on Calypso where I spent my time hunting drones, a total of 6 hunts with a loss on all but one of them.
On the Tuesday I placed on auction a Leaf Beret (F,C) that had been in storage for a long time. The Beret is green with a light trim and was one of a pair, there used to be the (M,C) version as well. Back in the day, when the Soc. was the Guardian Tigers and was run by Tiger Master Lee, the Green Beret was awarded to the winner of the monthly Soc. event. The winner wore the Beret for the month and gave it up to the winner of the next event. For that month the wearer received praise from other Soc. members. A bit daft really but good fun. I have not see the (M,C) version for a long time, I think Tiger sold it but I could be wrong. Anyway, not having both of them it was time to move on from this so it’s on Auction, I’m not expecting it to reach a good price as it’s full TT.

Saturday morning and Nocturaline and myself headed to Arkadia in my Quad, Wolta was already there, she had taken the ship last weekend. There was an Oratan Invasion event in progress and we all wished to stand in the thin green line to defend the forts. The journey was uneventful, seeing only 1 pirate at Calypso Space Station who tried hiding in his back seat but when he realised he had been spotted legged it pretty sharpish. No others were seen probably due to our approach vector to Arkadia.

We met Wolta at Courageous (I think) and all 3 of us stood with others against the massed ranks of Oratan who could have easily swamped us if they had attacked en mass, they seem to have a culture of individual prowess something akin to the iron age Celtic peoples of mother Earth. Which is extremely fortunate for us the new Romans.

I had prepared myself with 500 PED of ammo, my plan was to use my NIP against the smaller Oratan and the Karma Killer against the larger, those with area effect attacks. Using this method the 500 PED would last quite a long time, I would be able to tier the NIP and would hopefully get a decent sized reward when I was using the Karma Killer though an ATH had occurred the previous night I was still optimistic when it came to the spoils of war. My 500 PED came to an end and my return was about 80-85% but I had gained quite a few skills especially in evade so was quite happy with this.

The attack was far from over, a further 500PED of ammo was acquired and I returned to the line, this time I got lucky on a big HoF my share of which was about 1450 PED and after I had used only about 100 PED of my ammo it was time for Space Skilling Saturday so I stored and headed space-wards.

Sunday I was back on the surface and headed to Repulse (The Oratan had moved to attack there at some point yesterday), again 500 PED of ammo was acquired and using the same tactics I stayed in the line for much of the day, this time I came up with a considerable loss but did not mind, I had got an extra level of evade (lvl 34) in the 2 weekends I had been doing this, though both Wolta and Nocturaline seemed to get considerably more than that, I had also tiered the NIP. During the Sunday the lag was so bad there were times when I could not even fire my guns, this was particularly the case when a large Lancer was the target of many defenders and was somewhat frustrating.

I counted the number of times I died during the weekend, not including Space Skilling I managed and impressive 57 deaths (noob) though I may have forgotten to count a few.

Over the course of the week I gained 3 skill levels, the Karma Killer reached tier 4.6 and my return was about 140%, all things considered a good week in the Entropia Universe.
