Ancient Greece and lifting my embargo.

Log entry for the 11th of January 2015.

Monday, I began the week on Next Island where I had a go at some Portal Guardians, I had only my Hoplite armour due to the weight restrictions imposed by my mode of transport, I thought it only fair to use weaponry of a similar ilk so I kept the Karma Killer in its holster and unsheathed the Archon’s sword. I found these quite easy with the ancient equipment.

Tuesday, back in time to Ancient Greece, it’s like coming home though I was not really ready to return, those Steropes Cyclops are still too tough for me. Instead Wolta and I teamed against the Brontes Cyclops, with me only attacking until about half way before healing Wolta while she finished them with her Philosopher’s Sword. We did quite well.

Friday, I took on the Brontes solo, this time doing remarkably badly for Ancient Greece, this cancelled out Tuesday’s return. Later I tried a couple of Steropes Cyclops solo, I was resurrected several times on each occasion but did walk away with a profit before leaving Ancient Greece with slightly more gold than I arrived with. I did leave the Hoplite armour there as I have not been using it elsewhere.

The rest of the day was spent travelling, firstly back to Crystal Palace with Wolta in her Equus then after taking our equipment from storage onto Arkadia.

Saturday, I was still in space and took my Quad out to take on some Cosmic Horrors with predictable results although I do feel I’m getting better at this. After it was time for Space Skilling Saturday.

Sunday, I lifted my self imposed embargo of Arkadia as it is the new year and the duration of my exile had come to term. I took the quad via a circuitous route to avoid the lurking pirate. Once on the surface I went shopping finding some Medical Tool heal enhancers V and some Weapon Skill Modification Enhancers V, both of which I purchased.

Later I looked through the outstanding IFN challenges and found the Otorugi stage 2 to be nearest to completion requiring me to stay 100 to complete the 400 required. I took “The Bad Moon Rising” to their location, popped a skill pill and set to, one hour later I had gained some skill, lost about 150 PED, had reached 367/400 and raised the Karma Killer by 2 points to 5.6! After taking a bit if a rest I returned to finish the 400,this time without a skill pill as I knew it would not take an hour, this time I lost only 15 PED and after turning in the mission reached 56.6839 Laser Pistoleer (Hit).

The week had reached its glorious end and to my surprise I had done quite well managing an 85% return and the loss of only 260 PED. I had also purchased some more Lux luggage and a pitcher to assist me in organising way to much carried equipment as well as Weapon Modification Enhancers that would enable me to fill all the 5 slots of the Karma Killer although much of this requires collection from Calypso.

Getting an Aurli start

That’s just a terrible title and I apologise for it.

Log entry for the 30th of November 2014

Monday and an Aurli start to the week (the gag is so bad I thought I should use it twice), I have been plugging away at the Aurli stage III challenge (Kill 1000) and try to progress this whenever I am at Crystal Palace. I had 500PED of Universal Ammo with me, and set out to use as much as it would take to expire my A105, HoF20141124loot was poor and according to reports had been all day but unusually I had a good feeling about things and not too long into my hunt was rewarded with a very poor global. Still I felt good and kept going and just 5 minutes later a pretty decent HoF occurred taking me to number 3 on the board. Later still a second (slightly better than the fist) global was acquired. Shortly after my A105 was in need of repair, as things seemed to be going my way I dusted off my portable repair unit, fully repaired the A105 and continued to slaughter the Aurli, however my luck had run out and I did not get any more loots big enough to register as globals however one was in the 40 PED bracket. During this phase of the hunt I found myself in an area where the Aurli seemed to be spawn and at times I had 5 or even 6 of them attacking me, I survived this most of the time but did visit the revive twice. The second time the A105 expired I left the field of battle to asses my loot, and quite a good haul it was too, one full TT DOA Slugstorm (L), a shed load of shrapnel and a lot of ammo comprised most of value. The Ammo was sold, the shrapnel converted to Universal Ammo and the Slugstorm put in vehicle storage to be either auctioned or stuffed into Pamela when I visit Calypso and remember.

Nothing happened until Friday when I paid another visit to the Aurli, this also went quite well with only a small loss and it brought me to 819/1000 of the Aurli stage III mission.

I was feeling lazy so I TP’d to the surface of Calypso where I had a few things to do including naming my old snablesnot with a collar, I called him Spondulics. I visited Calico and Billy’s new apartment in TI City, which was nicely appointed. I also purchased a pair of Hoplite Armbands, finally completing the set.

After I was invited to one of Drop Zone’s famous Opalo Proteron hunts and I joined for the duration which turned out to be an hour making a very small profit and remembering how not to get killed, although I came close a couple of times. Casper, Drop Zone’s leader added me as a friend and we had quite a long discussion about several things including daily missions and hunting with some heavy hitters. After which I decided to do the Feffoid Cave mission to gain only my 3rd daily token although I’m sure I’ve done the cave more than that!

Saturday, I tried the Proteron solo and found I could do the young OK although there was quite a lot of healing involved I got 2 globals out of them the second one of which was very nice for a global and I managed a decent profit on the session. Latter it was Space Skilling Saturday, where I managed to lose just 2.6 PED hunting the Cosmic Horrors, a good day.

Sunday, I descended to the surface of Next Island and headed straight to Ancient Greece where I managed a few Steropes Cyclops to add to the mission, I need to kill 333 and have 5, this is going to be a long haul as they are tougher than me with my Archon’s sword and the Hoplite armour, I desperately need a healing squad. The present tactic is to pick out the weaker ones and then back towards he teleporter whilst attacking, I die at least once every time but this way I have less distance to travel to continue the attack after I revive and return to the scene and hopefully the Cyclops will not be too close to any others. A hard mission this one. I also did a few Brontes Cyclops just because they are easier. This hunt continued into next week but I’ll not make you wait for the result, the Cyclops beat me fair and square.

– more than 1K PED, opps!

Log Entry for the 21st of September 2014.

Monday, the week begins in Ancient Greece where I hunted Brontes Cyclops, a hunt in Ancient Greece consists of using my Archon’s sword until it requires full repair, if I’m part way through a mob I switch to my Philosopher’s to finish it off, sometimes I may take a few more. Today I completed 5 hunts, scored 2 globals and did quite well.

Tuesday, 4 hunts today this time on both Arges and Brontes Cyclops, I realised I had nearly finished the Brontes 333 mission and that to get to the Arges I would sometimes have to slay a few Brontes so I began concentrating on the Arges. The Archon’s sword reached tier 1.9, I checked but do not have what is necessary to upgrade it on Next Island so it will have to wait until we get back to civilisation. I managed 3 globals plus a few good loots and later I crafted some Simple I Conductors, only about 250 clicks but I managed a global there as well, I’ve always liked Ancient Greece and it seems that it likes me. In the evening Nocturaline and I experimented with Stereops Cyclops but found this difficult even with 2 of us against a level 24 we struggled and died a few times, as these are not close to a TP the 333 mission will be very slow work with our current skills and the level of technology available in Ancient Greece. It seems a band of Herb Box Healers will be required, we are intending on doing a few experiments to work out how many we need and then recruiting prior to returning to complete the mission.

Wednesday, over night I had won an auction for a pair of Hoplite Sandals so I went back to the future to collect these from Next Island Auction, it brings me to having 6/7 Hoplite parts, I still need the arms. Having collected and repaired the sandals I went straight back to Ancient Greece were I set about the Arges Cyclops and in the process I completed the Brontes 333 mission and then some as they just kept getting in the way. I turned in the mission but it seems all 3 Cyclops missions need to be completed to receive the reward. Arges I hope to complete this week and then it’s just the Stereops to finish, I will try to take a few while I’m here but I think the healing squad will be required. Loot was not so good today, I got more no loots and did not even get close to a global. After 3 hunts I finished the day at 214/333 Arges.

Thursday, another day killing Arges Cyclops, 3 hunts and I completed the 333 mission, a slightly better day than yesterday as the final hunt was profitable, maybe things were swinging back in my favour but I didn’t stay to find out. Before leaving I picked up some Ancient Greece TT items for Feyn. I moved to Next Island where I finished some missions, one of which required I visit Creon in Ancient Greece to take what was supposed to be beer but turned out to be poison. When Nocturaline came on-line she immediately returned to Next Island, it seemed we had both done as much as we could at this time so decided to move on to Rocktropia. On Rocktropia I began to hunt some Motorhead Royalty in an attempt to gain some Tier VI Components, I had to leave part way through as it was getting late.

Friday, Motorhead Royalty are a stretch for me, I added the 5B plates to my Ghost armour as this seemed to give the best protection, even so I had frequent trips to the revive and a TP back. The loot was poor as is becoming more normal however I did manage to gain 32 Tier VI Components in 3 hunts (including the one I started late last night). The Barbarella did not really have a safe range for picking these so I paid a quick visit to Hunt the Thing and picked up a few assault rifles, these were much safer as long as I did not strafe, in which case it was a bit of a disaster. I did pick up 4 skill gains and my combat average is now 32, not sure if it went up or not though.

Saturday, on Rocktropia I hunted more Mororhead Royalty and then some werewolves, I have to Serve the Nation while I’m here, haven’t you read the unwritten rules? Later during Space Skilling Saturday I hunted some Cosmic Horrors, surprisingly the loot from them was only slightly worse than the Royalty. Looking at my total loss from hunting on Rocktropia it was a bit scary! On the upside our new Soc. name finally kicked in “Chug’s Nomads”.

Sunday, I was at Monria and hunting Arbitrator the Vermin with both Wolta and Nocturaline, go team Sleepyheads. By Rocktropian standards it was a slight improvement but still quite poor. Later we had a warp client, while completing that job I got the opportunity to visit Crystal Palace and store some items I had been carrying for far to long.

Due largely to the Rocktropian experience I managed to lose significantly more than 1000 PED this week. Not a good week for me financially but Ancient Greece did yield a positive and it’s always nice just being there.
