Laser Pistoleer (hit)

Log entry for the 4th of October 2015

Monday, I managed to start on Monday, I intended to try a bit harder but failed miserably. I’m still on Cyrene so I try a couple of Mang Chang hunts, only small ones, I managed 1 global and a fairly substantial loss however I managed to creep up to 98% of a level for Laser Pistoleer (hit), edging ever closer.

Friday, Froggy Fish! I visit the Merefolken, apparently they have been making a folken nuisance of them selves, I kill enough to summon “Lord someone or other” who turns out to be even more of an insignificant wimp than I am. I managed 1 global and Laser Pistoleer (hit) increased to 98.71% with a loss of about 50 PED. Later I have a go at some Dusters and then Stalkers, a significantly larger loss here, again I manage a global and Laser Pistoleer (hit) reaches the coveted next level (59).

Saturday, I prepare to depart Cyrene and head into the big black for Space Skilling Saturday, after which I arrive on Next Island.

Lost in Space

Log entry for the 21st of December 2014.

Let’s face it, it was only a matter of time until I used that title.

Monday, I roam the surface of Cyrene, the place seems smaller and I am lost (again), It seems that almost every time I come here the surface has changed dramatically, there was a time I could find things but no more. I failed to find any decent mobs and of course decent loot has very high evade skills. I am plagued by an error message almost every time I do anything, I am not sure I can stay here for very long. Wolta logs out on Pathfinder XXXI and Nocturaline is already on Arkadia so I need feel no guilt about leaving a friend behind should I go.

Tuesday, today’s update changed the error, it now told me it was related to a particular mission, I think it was called “Improve your Skills”, or something like that, I failed to take a note however after abandoning the mission all the errors went away. Loot has forgotten to wear its armour and I take advantage of the situation.

Thursday, Loot decided to wear its very best set of armour today, I realised I had no chance and walked away from the Dire Weed, they were not counting toward the mission for which I was supposed to kill them anyway. I headed to Arkadia.

Friday, I headed to Crystal Palace, yeah, I had no idea what I was doing or why! Once there I began to feel more with it and set to on the Aurli in Dome 1, I was relatively close to completing the iron challenge Aurli Stage III (kill 1000 of the critters), so I set to against them with mediocre results but i did get a level in Evader.

Saturday, more Aurli, again the mediocre results but an increase in Ranged laser (Dmg) and I reached 960/1000. Space Skilling Saturday was a quieter than normal session but the Cosmic Horrors were unusually generous though no global was scored. Surprisingly, afterwards I was still awake so I revisited the Aurli in Dome 1 and completed the stage III mission as well as getting an increase on my combat average, now to level 33. I began the stage IV (kill 5000) as I was using a skill pill and did not wish to waste it.This session was also profitable, it seems Saturday night is all right for fighting!

Sunday, I moved on to Kreltin in dome 2, I had started the 1000 mission sometime ago but had not achieved much, after a couple of hunts I had cleared the 20% mark and gained a hit point bringing me to 173, always good to get another hit point, a nice positive end to the week.

I managed a little over 90% return this week and am rather pleased with it, certainly value for money entertainment wise.

Rocktropia (mostly)

Log entry for the 14th of December 2014.

Monday, most of today’s efforts centred around getting the Philosopher’s Sword to tier II, I did this by “Serving the Nation” Completely Using the Sword 5 times and on the last hunt it got to tier 1.9 and was ready to be upgraded, hopefully with 2 Skill Enhancers on it it will be of better use to Wolta when we next visit Ancient Greece. I also took part in a couple of Zombie Kongs, some of which was using the Philosopher’s Sword but it was nearly all Karma Killer and it managed to crawl it’s way to tier 5.3 in the process. It was a good day with 6 of 8 hunts resulting in a positive return.

Tuesday, I used the new auction system to bid on items on Calypso while I was on Rocktropia, I say new but this is how it originally was when there was only Calypso, Crystal Palace and what was then called Club Neverdie. Now as then the auction transport fees were on the high side especially as I was after more than 1 stack so I elected to collect these myself and set off in Pathfinder XXXI for Calypso.

On arrival I placed a collection of items onto auction, retrieved my Skill Enhancers and then set about purchasing what was required to bring the Philosopher’s Sword to tier II and the EMT Kit EK-2900 to tier V, this was all relatively painless as I had most of what was required in store and it was not long until both items were tiered. I added some Weapon Skill Enhancers to both of the available slots on the Philosopher’s Sword, and put it away for Wolta to try on her return.

I decided to try the Araneatrox and the Atrox but both were being very uncooperative so I cut the hunt short.

I also stuffed a looted DOA Slugstorm into Pamela.

Wednesday, After placing a few more auctions of items that had already sold I headed spacewards and paid a visit to my old friends the Aurli on Crystal Palace, they were not pleased to see me. I left thinking them quite rude and headed back to Rocktropia.

Thursday, I descended to the surface of Rocktropia where I once again visited the werewolves to test out the Philosopher’s sword, they were slightly more welcoming than the Aurli of yesterday, I still wonder why they carry so much makeup?

Friday, the Werewolves were becoming quite rude so I paid several visits to the Scavenger Wolves with my old EnBlade A. I started the 500 mission intending to finish it before leaving and after 2 visits had reached 116/500, they were far more eager to entertain me. Wolta did try the sword and it is an improvement but more practice is required.

Saturday, 3 more visits to the Scavenger Wolves was all I could manage today, this brought me to 301/500, not bad progress but a miss of my target by quite a long way. Later it was Space Skilling Saturday, the Cosmic Horrors were decent hosts and this week I stayed awake.

Errors by the dozen.

Errors by the dozen.

Sunday, I was on Cyrene where I blundered into some Paneleon and entertained myself with error message after error message while slaying these and doing pretty much anything else too, it was very irritating. I did consider raising a support case but put it off. Cyrene had changed a lot since my last visit, a completely new map and I had lots of Teleporters to find (again) so I was kept quite busy.

All things considered this was a good week, there was very little by way of loss and a return of approximately 90%, there were considerably more hunts than is usual but due to them using a sword that’s no real surprise.

At Cyrene

Monday, an appalling hunt of Oratan Miners Underground resulted in me being very pleased we were leaving Arkadia, which we did late that night.

Tuesday, I descended to the surface of Cyrene in my quad, there was no one else visible in the vicinity of the space station though there was one other Vega class ship docked.

On the surface things have changed greatly from the early days, it seems almost civilised now. I accepted what missions I found throughout my wanderings and ended up hunting some Mang Chang with very little success. I could quite easily cope with Young, a Mature required some concentration and at one time I tried a Guardian which was definitely a mistake and involved more return trips via a TP chip than I can remember, they do regenerate quite quickly. I did try a Rhino Beetle Young but my armour was not up to the job.  Talking of Armour, my Viceroy Shin Guards reached tier 1.9 and are ready for upgrade to tier 2, the required materials for this are stored on Arkadia so it will have to wait.

Wednesday, Stalkers were tonight’s hunt, a standard hunt (250 PED of ammo, this is basically what it takes to completely use my A105, with damage enhancers in all 5 tier slots of the Karma Killer). I found these to be a reasonable mob for me to hunt, not doing too much damage to me and being killed quite quickly, the return was reasonable as well.

Thursday, I was low on funds, having only enough for a small (100 PED of ammo) hunt, I decided to try Skyshatter, these were a little on the difficult side, I tried swapping out plates on the Viceroy from 5b to 6a but it seemed worse! I did loot an Enkidd  but other than that the loot was unremarkable. Due to the amount of damage I had taken and healing I had done my repair costs were higher than usual and I found I did not have quite enough PED so I TT’d a little loot.

Clearly I have spread myself a little think of late, the upshot of planet hopping is that loot gets left in storage on the various planets and the PED card balance goes down. I need a different approach to loot if I am to continue such frequent travels.

Friday, I was broke but found a couple of stacks in my inventory at login, I checked my latest downloaded item list, the stacks were listed as being on auction, I guess this was from 1 year ago on Rocktropia! I TT’d them along with some Cyrene Stacks and got myself some ammo, I wanted to try some Tide Claw, not the tiny ones something bigger. So I checked Entropedia and headed to the various locations there, biggest I found was an old (I had noticed a couple of dominant globals) after about 2 frustrating hours of searching I gave up and logged off.

Saturday, the search for Tide Claw continued, I had  noticed on the loader a link to a Cyrene specific site, after searching on a rather difficult map I found, with Wolta’s aid, a couple of locations. I tried both of them and found that I could take the providers quite easily, the guardians were a bit difficult but doable most of the time. Once again I managed to half my money!

In the evening it was time for Space Skilling Saturday, so I saved a few PED by not hunting. Afterwards I got my feet on Rocktropia for the first time in quite some while.

Sunday, Rocktropia seems like it’s been hit by the Borg, vast swathes are no longer there, buildings are absent, mobs have moved to new locations. I was eager to “Server the Nation” and had to resort to planet chat to locate both the Lady Helena (now sadly in her grave) and the werewolves. That done it was time to kill werewolves, loot was quite poor on the first run but good on the second, I still find the amount of makeup that werewolves carry to be quite disturbing. Between the two hunts I had purchased the Gold Starter pack, solely for the skill pills and I popped one of these before the second hunt, the skill gain results were a big improvement though it seems I need to buy more than 250PED of ammo if I am to make use of the full hour, at least at the rate of fire I was achieving.

The pack contains a few other items, the armour makes me look like RoboCop, it gives an 8% increase in metabolic rate, I think that just means I can run faster, I need to test if I can get more swings with a sword when wearing it but I doubt it. The gun could work as a tagging weapon, I will need to test that once my current one expires.

In the evening roamed a little with Nocturaline, had a look around the Zeplin and had a play in the car that came in the pack, a lupus 4×4.

The week ends with a return of just over 62%, not good but I’ve known worse.
