Arkadian downs and ups

Log Entry for September the 22nd 2013

I spent quite a lot of time hunting Oratan Slashers, the results were rather bad and showed no sign of changing. On Wednesday, I stood at Celeste Quarry wondering what to do as I did not intend to hunt, boredom set in and the words “What the f***” wandered across my mind, I had seen some Teladon and Beladoth globals so I decided to hunt Huon.

It was not long until I hit a small HoF and less than 4 minutes later I hit another, that was followed by a global, Huon, good call! The following day I tried Teladon and managed 3 globals. The day after things returned to normal against the Riptor and the Tiarak but I did manage another Huon the day after that.

Wolta and I did a key 5 between us working toward the completion of a Magurg IFN challenge, the results were not brilliant but it was fun. Wolta and I also had a go at some Oratan miners and did OK.

There was much speculation about the upcoming update, people are concerned that off-line space travel will be removed and obviously the usual  introduction of bugs that are smoothed out over the following few weeks. The update is supposed to be rather large and a longer than usual outage has been scheduled for Tuesday the 24th.

Floating in a tin can

Log Entry for September the 15th 2013

I spent some time in Cyclops Depths, once again loot was poor but I had some interesting experiences with some of the bosses. While in the depths and trying to cross the bridge guarded by the pyromancer, the instance was reset and all who were in it started again at the entrance, there were less than 10 of us. We all ran into the depths and many of us headed for the first boss. to activate this there are a few thorifoids that need to be slayed, during which I managed a small global, once the boss was activated we all laid into it making short work of him and getting very little loot.

The second boss is further along the corridor in a room on the left containing some high level shamans, I tagged along with a couple of avatars who clearly knew what they were doing and I promptly got killed but I was curious and returned, this time I was asked to join a team by “Slate shitkicker Sloan” ( I think the name is correct), beside he and I there was one other member of the team one “ah Lady oh” who seemed to be doing most of the work. When the boss did materialise, I promptly found myself encased in what looked like ice and died soon after, I was unable to re-enter the room, it looked like ice was blocking the path.

Boss 3 and for me the final one was the pyromancer, he kept summoning me back to his location and I kept running away, eventually I was freed from this when Slate took him on and killed him. Clearly I need better armour to deal with these, the Viceroy seems mostly ineffective.

I eventually got to my target location and took on some more low level Mindreavers trying to complete a challenge but am not sure if it’s stage 1 or 2 now. Again the Viceroy seemed not to do much. I need to work out what attacks are being used and see if I can find something more suitable. I did not complete the challenge, I will try again soon.

Upon my return to the surface I visited Nocturaline in her newly decorated apartment (I forget the address), she has been busy furnishing it and is branching out in the hairdressing business. The apartment looked very good and is considerably different to my own.

The following day I headed into space in the Pathfinder and stayed there for 5 days, the first 4 were just cruising solo to the Calypso hunting grounds and being attacked by Cosmic Horrors see the ships log entry.

On the 5th day Wolta and Nocturaline joined me and we headed to Arkadia (log entry). Wolta and Nocturaline headed for the surface, while I stayed aboard, later I tried the Cosmic Horrors at Arkadia in my Quad and I seemed to break even,

Once on the surface the Oratan Slashers and the Magurg both provided very little loot. The following day (Sunday), Wolta invited Nocturaline and I on an Arkadian Key 7 mission which we both accepted, these are always a lot of fun and quite intense, considering I was somewhat less than sober I did quite well and did not lose a lot either.

Many people have been commenting on how poor the loot has been so I guess it’s not just me at the moment, time to kick back and do some low level IFN challenges I think.

Peaking Early

Log Entry of September the 9th 2013

The week started poorly, I had noticed Tuesday morning a lot of Aurli globals but could not be bothered to visit Crystal Palace, instead I contented myself with the Rextelum and found myself quite discontented with the loot they had to offer. In the evening all the Aurli spam had ceased but for some reason I could be bothered with a trip to Crystal Palace and just as well, the first mob was a 391PED HoF on a Watcher. I was tempted to call it quits and just return to the planet but decided to continue the hunt and just as well, within 15 minutes I scored a 1755PED HoF from a Weak, I was more than happy with this result.

I stayed on Crystal Palace at least another day, maybe 2, my memory is hazy but the good times did not continue so I returned to Calypso, not that, that made any difference to the loot.

The rest of the week loot was poor, to the extent that when Wolta and I had our weekend hunt we cut it short, something I think we have only ever done once before.

Lets hope things pick-up next week.

Calypso calling

Log Entry for September 2nd 2013

With the lack of resources described in my previous log entry causing me some issues I decided I should return to Calypso, I checked with Wolta and she was OK with this, we planned to leave the following day and set off for a last team hunt together for this spell on Arkadia, we did quite well against the Oratan Miners, managing 4 globals and a decent profit.

Once we had returned to Calypso (a small adventure in its self), I checked my storage, the auction and what was required to tier the Karma Killer and then purchased the necessary, with the upgrade complete I purchased some weapon skill modification III Enhancers and promptly fitted them to the gun. I really need to do some investigation in to how economical they are, after all it may be cheaper to not use them. I also placed quite a few items (mostly armour parts) on auction most of which have sold for a tidy MU.

Loot was up and down during the week, I decided to try Cyclops Depths in the hope of finding a crystal shard to upgrade an amp with but no luck and little loot from the Mind Reavers too.

Saturday night and I was invited to join a Drop Zone event hosted by Nocturaline, this was to be a race around the circuits near New Switzerland, I had looked at the map and the instructions Nocturaline had posted and I managed to get completely the wrong end of the stick. The first race was comprised of 3 teams each of 2 people in cars provided by and fuelled by Nocturaline. The two tracks were combined into a figure of eight circuit with the start and finish line at the centre. We were to go clockwise around the lower loop and anticlockwise around the top one. Everyone got it right except me, no surprise there, I promptly set off on the upper loop first, it took a while to realise my mistake and when I did I headed cross county to join the lower loop, I was disqualified on completion of the lower loop and rightly so :). My team mate was not too impressed as she wanted to win the prize (which was a car). Further problems occurred when several of the cars were auto-recalled to storage, one of them being my team mate’s so I went and picked her up in the Sleipnir. Only 2 cars survived the circuit both of which were on the blue team. These 2 drivers then faced each other in a final with the winner being Casper.

Almost all of Nocturalines vehiclesIt was a fun event and I must thank Nocturaline for arranging it and supplying all that was necessary. It seems she is a bit of a vehicle freak, she sent me a picture during the week of her and almost all her vehicles, missing is a boat and a hoverboard. She has since purchased more. Apparently it took over an hour to spawn all of these. Not sure i would have had the patience :).

I entered the Atrax event Sunday evening and did quite badly, I was in 6th place immediately behind Anna Wolverine Queen (an old friend from my days at EUC), I managed to lose nearly 140PED to achieve this stunning rank.

This evening I had a go at the Rextelum, they were kind and I almost got back that which the Atrax took from me last night, I did manage to get passed the 10K mark of the 30K challenge which is quite good news, on the other hand there is still a long way to go.

During the week I gained and lost another disciple, another one who wanted me to supply them with a weapon and equipment so that they can play the game. Again I explained the role of a mentor was to guide and to advise not to pay. He dropped me as a mentor and was all pissed off about it. I really don’t get why people get annoyed when someone does not give them stuff but no matter. I am considering leaving the mentoring thing behind me this is the 3rd or 4th one now, it would be a shame as it is something I enjoy doing. Maybe I should write my mentor presentation here and near the beginning in bold, coloured and underlined capitals state that:-

I DO NOT PAY FOR YOU TO PLAY,

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HANDOUTS GO ELSEWHERE

I bet some f. wit still tries it on.
