A sad day

Log Entry for June 24th 2013

I spent a good few hours completing the mission to gain entrance to the new instance over at the volcano, I was tired and I was doing a lot of it in the dark which did not help much. I found it quite frustrating and needlessly long winded which is a shame. The Instance its self is quite good fun and I do not think I have done to badly from it so far, I think there is more to it than I have so far discovered and will probably try some additional exploration soon.

I have upgraded the Karma Killer, now at tier 2 and with additional accuracy enhancers fitted I have noticed a small improvement in accuracy (it takes slightly less shots to kill now).

I reached level 44 in knifefighter (hit) which I was quite pleased about, the following day I reached level 44 in Laser Pistoleer (hit). Now for the sad bit, the day after that my Laser Pistoleer skill exceeded my knifefighter skill for the first time. I want to start using the shortblades again but they seem so expensive by comparison with the pistol, maybe now I am using an unlimited pistol the difference will not be so big.

The armour continues to be used up and swapped out for ghost, I do not think it will be long until I am fully unlimited.

A short entry this week as I have been busy elsewhere.

Wolta has reached level 25 Vehicle Structural Engineer, awesome news for any transports we will be running in the future, excellent work Wolta. I am intending on discussing our plans for the Pathfinder with her this coming weekend, I think it’s time to try and get some more regular passengers, hopefully we will come up with some kind of plan.

I have been doing some more car racing with Nocturaline we tried Chug’s circuit a couple of times with one win each, we also tried racing around lake Penzance which is quite an exciting and flexible circuit, Nocturaline thrashed me on that one.

Tiger decided to try the pit again and this time survived but did not challenge me for leadership, we decided that in such circumstances the challenger can have the Soc. ranking system changed and he and PBG elected hunters, this has been changed and I am now telling the world that I’m a “Great Hunter”, this is clearly untrue. I do not like the ranking system but it is not my place to change it.

I seem to have gotten some enthusiasm back and spent some time hunting this week. I have managed to reach the 6k mark of the 30k Rextelum Iron challenge.

On Friday night I was East of Saba Camp tying to reduce the numbers of Rextelum I had already had a small global when I hit nice HoF, 1800 and something PED, been a long while since I hit one that big and as far as I know it’s the highest I have ever been in the Hall of Fame, 3rd place. I was naturally rather pleased. I became more pleased soon after when Wolta pointed out I was at number 15 in BIG Industries 100,000 PED Supernova event and that this event was due to end the following night, the prize was 1000PED for the top 100 loots during the event.

On Saturday evening Wolta and myself teamed and managed a 3 global Rextelum hunt, I managed a small gain whist Wolta managed a small loss, I think I just managed more hits on the bigger of the globals and that made all the difference.

Also on Saturday (at least I think it was Saturday) I joined Drop Zone for an Opalo Proteron hunt, this was great fun as usual but I was very tired and the soothing sound of gunfire made me nod off twice, waking each time at the revive, after the second time I called it a night.

The prize giving for the BIG Industries event was Sunday evening, Wolta and I did attend but there were some issues, Blastoise had connection problems and kept disconnecting, a bit sad for him really, I am sure he would have liked to participate more. Freyr stepped in and handed out the cash although I am sure Blastoise did some. I did leave and come back after about 30 minutes or so as clearly there was a lot of trades for them to get through. It was odd to find myself standing around in the company of so many heavy hitters but I hope to have the opportunities to get used to it!

The Karma Killer has reached tier 1.9 and is ready for an upgrade, I am in the process of getting the required materials together, I will be adding more accuracy enhancers, it is an unlimited weapon so it is very important for it’s economy to reduce the number of misses.

The old limited armour parts continue to expire and be replaced with Ghost, I think I just have the harness, thighs and gloves to burn now.

Some bigger robots turned up, well I say bigger they are the same size and basically the same robots just tougher, there were at least 2 (Shared Loot) All Time Highs from these. I did have a little go but quite often got nothing in spite of firing a lot of PED into the mobs.

Coasting to Racing

Log Entry for June 10th 2013

I started the week coasting, the poor returns from the previous week continued and I was unwilling to just throw PED at the mobs. I tried here and there and “not good” continued to be the theme.

As I was mostly standing around (I miss sitting), I found myself chatting to people a lot more. Nocturaline invited me to the tracks at New Switzerland for a car race, there were just three of us, the third being Nocturaline’s disciple who’s name I am ashamed to say I have forgotten. We raced around the track, I even managed to get lost and end up in the middle of the circuit somewhere, I have no idea how that happened. Needless to say I did not do well but did manage a second on the second circuit but only because the disciple overshot the exit.

Nocturaline belongs to an interesting Society “Drop Zone”, they run events which remind me of the old days in the “Guardian Tigers”, finding ways to entertain ourselves. I was kindly invited to partake in two Opalo Proteron hunts as organised by Drop Zone. The first was a steep learning curve, suddenly I had to think about what I was doing instead of just point, shoot, heal. I died many times, it did not help that I was very tired, I did begin to wake up towards the end though and became a little more proficient. I was more awake for the second hunt but still messed up a few times, it is important not to be distracted a few seconds is all it takes and you are back at the revive. I think I missed Tiger saying goodbye for the week due to how busy I was doing this, sorry Tiger.  These are a lot of entertainment for very little cost and I recommend them to anyone who gets an invite. I have also witnessed a car race in the “Calypso new arrivals” instance, at least I think that’s what it is called. This was highly entertaining, the racers had to drive from the entrance to the exit point (about 7 minutes). I flew along in “Bad Moon Rising” to see the race from above, there were way points but they were not mandatory.

Wolta spent much of the weekend skilling repair, she has been doing this a lot and is intending to reach lvl 25 VSE so she can use the RK-20. I did help her out a little with the gift of a chip, safer transport is vital. During the set up process of the 0.0 feature I found myself on Crystal Palace, I elected to try some Aurli and am very glad I did, I managed to get myself surrounded by 6 or so of the beasts (hard to tell it seemed dark in there). Survival was my goal and the Karma Killer and my Christmas tree armour set did a good job of that in addition I managed a nice HoF just as Wolta came on line so I cut the hunt short and walked away with a healthy profit.

It was on that day that I lent Cee the use of “The Desperate Dan”, my first and somewhat beaten up Sleipnir, she had not flown before and after some basic tuition found she loved it. Rather entertainingly it vanished while she was in mid-air, I can only assume that this was caused by me warping to Cyrene and leaving Calypso behind. She did survive the fall and found herself in the middle on nowhere, I would have liked to have seen that. She has since bought herself a Sleipnir.

I also learnt of the Feffoid daily crystal cave mission this week and gave that a try yesterday, this also gave me a nice return, I shall be making an effort to do that every day.

I must say, it has been an interesting week.

Something stupid progress report 1

Log Entry for June 3rd 2013

It has not been as bad as I expected, costs do seem to have increased but not considerably, loot has decreased, I have had several very poor returns as have many people I have talked with. The Karma Killer tiers rapidly so far by 0.1 for about each 150 pedal of ammo. The armour is being swapped out and at this time I am using Ghost face and feet, Ursa shins and the rest is Jaguar. I am using accuracy enhancers on the Karma Killer and have started to swap my FAP enhancers from economy to heal, I intend to replace my Ghost’s durability enhancers for defence but that will take time.

I made me a new friend this week (something I seem to be getting better at), Nocturaline was at Chug’s in the pit and I offered some assistance once round 4 kicked off, this enabled her to get the “Lord of the Ring” achievement. After which we spent some time discussing the pirate issue.

I have had 3 team hunts this week, the first was on Crystal Palace with Tiger, we took on the Kreltin , I think the Kreltin won but we did manage a good couple of globals. The 2nd was with both Tiger and Cee against the Proteron, they definitely won that round but we’ll be back. The 3rd was with Cee against the Argonauts near Twin, again there were 2 globals but this time we beat them.

The Proteron hunt followed me being invited to “Drop Zone’s” Soc. Proteron sweating event by Nocturaline, this was a lot of fun and I hope to go back and maybe be on the kill squad. I died several times while sweating and did not get a lot of sweat but that was not why I went. Fortunately the poor Proteron we were torturing was near to the TP.

June has started so the soc. is gearing up for the challenge in the pit to determine rank. I hope we will get some pit action next weekend.
