Primordial Longu, Shortblade, Traeskeron and a Hit Point.

Log entry 22 Oct 12.

I have been quite busy with the Primordial Longu 6k mission, I have managed a few globals but not many and I still have a long way to go. The competition is over now so I expect the numbers hunting them will go down, I wonder what that will do to the loot.

Yesterday I achieved a personal goal, I was for a long time a shortblades specialist, indeed it is still my highest two skills. I have wanted to loot a shortblade for a very long time and yesterday I succeeded, it’s nothing special, quite a new item as it shows no auction bids, I have put it in “The Lair”, I will have to get  a display panel for it.

Today I reached 151 HP, it seems not that long ago I got to 150 so I guess I am doing something right. I also completed the 300 Traeskeron mission, I had forgotten the reward was only tokens :).

I am having a crack at some of the BIG Industries competitions, I am expecting to do poorly but it’s worth a shot.

Primordial Longu (Continued)

I had been thinking about Primordial Longu, I had tried various armour combinations, although I had not pulled the Jaguar out of it’s box. So far my best combination has been Ghost with 6As but this does not guarantee survival, even against non critical hits from Olds. I went back to basics. The first rule of combat is “Don’t get hit”, to this end I decided to purchase a rifle, the extra range and power gives me a good chance of downing these before they get to me and those that do get to me get far fewer opportunities to hit. I had not used an Isis LR48 before but had used a 53. The MU on the 53 seemed a bit excessive and I decided the 48 would give me the required range and power and it’s MU was no not too bad.

I fitted the amp and sights and made sure it was set as my primary weapon then set off to play my part in making the Primordial Longu re-extinct! The set up worked pretty well, I got killed a few times once by a very excessive critical the rest by me just not paying attention. However I could drop youngs before they got to me most of the time and it gave me the confidence to tackle mobs bigger than I would have. Guardians used to be a bit of a problem but now I can manage them most of the time, I even took on a Dominant and finished it off without any problems, I have not encountered anything bigger (yet). This set up has reduced repair costs but decay costs have increased.

With the amp fitted I need 170PED of ammo to make 1000 shots. So that’s the amount I go out with for each hunt. I have completed two so far with a small loss on the first one and a very, very small gain on the second even though it contained a 132PED global. I have had a good increase in kill points and broke the 2k mark today, I think I finished at about 2250, I need 3000 to get to the end of the current mission and gain those skills so I should complete this very soon.

Primordial Longu

I suspect it is the main course and arrives directly after the soup.

It seems some geneticists managed to recreate these prehistoric creatures and then let them loose to roam the countryside causing mayhem and chaos wherever they went! I can totally understand that, it’s what I would do if I were a geneticist, none of that GM food nonsense for me oh no, straight to the prehistoric monsters every time. May be a theme park could be created full of these living fossils, great idea, I could call it Geriatric Park! I would feel quite at home.

Anyway, I have hunted these for over a day now, not exclusively that would just be picking on them, so far the results have been quite good, three globals well two if I’m honest, the first was on an Atrax that spawned a little too close for comfort. The second was on a Provider and the third on a Guardian in team with Wolta, oddly that one failed to hit either of us while we shot it. I have not seen any items yet.

Whilst out hunting them this evening something a little spooky happened, quite suddenly all the gunfire stopped, all the avatars except me just stopped, frozen to the spot as did the Primordials. I was unable to shoot, unequip my gun or spawn a vehicle though I could move freely. I took the opportunity to take a good close up look at one of these creatures and even took a picture. I have to say I rather like them, they may make good pets, if they ever bring them back! I hung around for a few minutes and then tried a re-log, I was not able to reconnect.

I completed the first quest on these (600 points) and I got a reasonable amount of skills as a reward, I am almost at 1k of 3k for the second part of the quest, the reward for that looks pretty good so I will persevere with these for a while longer. Hopefully I will get my just desserts once I have completed the main course!

Team hunting with Wolta

Log Entry 07 Oct 12.

Wolta and I have hunted in team on many occasions, going back as far as out trip to Arkadia if I remember rightly where we ganged up on the Nusul. We have never managed to score a team global but today we broke with tradition and brought down an Atrox Old for a score of 136PED. It is good to have finally achieved this however I must not harbour increased expectations for the next hunt!

Prior to our hunt I had been giving PED to the Traskerons and have about 175 left to complete the challenge, there was no one else at the spawning grounds today so it was quite tricky at times.

I also spent 15 minutes or so ferrying a noob from New Oxford to Nea’s, he is the friend of a friend and had been struggling with this journey on foot. Glad I could help.
