So long Shinkiba (at least for now).

Log Entry 30 Sep 12.

I completed the the Shinkiba 10k Iron Challenge yesterday, the skill gains were good a level gain in Stamina and a level gain in Rifle, this gave me 4 Professional level increases, Plasma Sniper (hit), Gauss sniper (hit),  Laser Sniper (hit) and BLP Sniper (hit). Hard work though, very tedious! I have taken the Shinkiba Bronze Challenge but I am going to leave them alone for a little while.

Earlier the same day I gained another HP, I am now at 150. I’m quite please about that, it has been a personal target for quite some time now so it’s really nice to finally make it.

I’m feeling a bit lost now, what should I do?

I had a crack at the Molisk Mania event, I went to Ashi, spawned The Bad Moon Rising and headed to the event area. I unslung the P5a and began the extermination, after firing my 1k rounds plus the looted ammo I had not managed a global, the loot was about average though so things could have been worse, Molisk seem to have more teeth than they used to!

OK, it seems I have the Molisk bug. I completed a further two 1k round hunts although the second of these was cut short by the P5a expiring, the first was at Ithaca and the second at Corinth East Hangers. Ithaca was very busy, Corinth less so but Corinth did result in a profit and in completion of the Molisk 500 Iron Challenge so when finished I visited the mission broker, received the meaningless reward and accepted the 1k challenge. I needed to replace the P5a and I did so but foolishly with an Isis LR53 (L), I seem to have caught the SIB bug, I hope it’s only temporary. The Isis should provide an increase in my lasersniper (hit) skill, I seem to remember it is lagging behind a little. I returned to Corinth, flew to the spawn sight and fired just one round, I was out of ammo! After correcting this I set about the Molisk with a vengeance. I had 200PED of ammo, which is twice as much as I am used to as the Isis burns it quickly, almost twice as quickly as the P5a, strangely it does not hit the amp as heavily. It was not long before I had used it all and set about walking back to the TP sword in hand. Another profitable run but still no global for the competition, tomorrow is another day.

And as it turned out it was, I visited one of the spawns near to Minopolis and was rewarded with a 99PED global which gives me a ticket into the competition however I very much doubt that it is enough to secure the 100th place but it did get me half way through the 1k Molisk. I returned to the Daikiba and broke the 8k mark, on the home stretch now. Later the same day I took on more Daikiba and revisited the Molisk, this time at Nymphtown, loot was poor so I returned to the Minopolis spawn and things improved.

I had quite a long chat with M0niqa, my old disciple (the only one I have had under the new system) she wanted to know about mindforce so I explained this. She had got her hands on an attack chip so I talked her through getting and inserting the mind implant, after which she was off zapping stuff right left and centre.

More Daikiba, more Molisk, I swear I’m going to be dreaming of them!

Truth of the matter is, not a lot has happened. I have been ploughing my way through the 10K Shinkiba/Daikiba Challenge and have managed to complete a little over 3/4 of it, there is a chance I could finish by the end of this week as I have very few distractions.

I have had a couple of Team hunts, the first was with NIN, we were hunting Allo and managed a global, although I had quite a big loss on the hunt. The second was with Wolta and we tried Mermoth (It has been years since I hunted these, the only reason I did was because Una wanted the skins for his coat), this was fun, the area was basically on two  levels separated in the most part by a cliff, the Mermoth are fairly aggressive and seeing them charge over the top of the cliff and plummet towards us, their little flippers flapping away was for me a hilarious sight, losses on this hunt were minimal.

I did try a solo Allo hunt the result of which was quite poor.

I reached level 24 in the Swordsman (Hit) profession, as I had maxed the Philosopher’s Sword, I decided to purchase an Archon’s Sword, I got one at tier 0.9 and immediately upgraded it to 1.0 and applied some skill enhancers to it, this means I still get the SIB but I am not terrible with it, the method seems to work quite well, certainly I am please with the results, I have already increased Swordsman (Hit) to level 25. I must remember to take the Skill enhancers off before I max the weapon.

By combining a TT shortblade, the Philosopher’s Sword and Archon’s Sword I am now able to complete the Daikiba wave event near to Camp Icarus, with some blade power to spare, mostly completing this has proved costly but fortunately not always, a couple of globals have occurred. The first couple of waves are the best for racking up the iron Challenge kills but it is more of a challenge to complete it so I do tend to do this unless the loot is truly dire!

I have renamed the society again, I will settle on a name eventually, as I am the only member on-line at the moment (although Karl was on today, I did not get a response from him, maybe he left? I’ll check.), I decided on “Solitary Confinement” as the current name, it suits the situation.

There is something on auction by which I am sorely tempted, I must restrain myself however as it is quite heavily overpriced. I am sure one will turn up at a reasonable price, all I have to do is be patient.

I have updated my mentor information as I think I am ready to take on another disciple, I entered quite a lot of information, it is a pity that when this is read the box has little height resulting in it being a struggle to scroll through it. I have been looking for suitable candidates so far with little success, although I have met one person I would consider taking on, they do not seem interested and I do not want to push.

I have visited the Daikiba Stampede at Icarus many times, on one occasion someone (OMG) was already partway through the first wave. I asked if I could join and was told I was welcome. Together we went through the next 3 waves with the Philosopher’s Sword expiring toward the end of the wave 4, loot was good so I drew the Despair and continued. OMG left at the end of wave 4 but someone else joined (l do not recall the name) and together we despatched wave 5. The repair cost was high, it always is when using the Despair but the loot more than covered it.

I passed the 3k mark on Wednesday (12-09-12), I also got the blade to level 0.9 and promptly upgraded it to 1.0 adding some accuracy enhancers, on trying it I did notice more criticals so I’m quite pleased. I am still trying to get the TT blade to 0.9, I know I have had it since I started but I have not had much call to use it since the whole enhancer thing kicked in so it has only recently seen the light of day. I am also trying to get the Despair to 2.9, it has been at 2.8 for a long while now.

I have also visited the Wave Event at Cape Corinth, this is a much tougher challenge with wave 5 consisting of 5 Kirakiba, I normally bale when the Philosopher’s Sword expires (end of wave 3 – beginning of wave 4) but on Thursday evening I was joined by another and together we went through to the end with me relying on the Despair, I was at a distinct disadvantage as I was not prepared and had no armour on, I had to revive and TP 3 times to get to the end, fortunately the other chap was well armoured and had a powerful pistol.

Going back to the TT blade, I have started using it to despatch both young and mature Shinkiba and Daikiba, this has given me more use of the Philosopher’s Sword on the tougher maturities and increased the number I am despatching on each run.

Saturday the 15th and I passed the 4k mark whilst completing the Icarus wave event, completing it turned out to be a poor decision, the loss while not horrific was definitely one of the worst, it had been going quite well while using the Philosopher’s Sword and the TT shortblade, and the decision to continue was based upon this, however it went downhill after drawing the Despair, I should have stopped but I just kept going, I’ll never learn.

Over the weekend I got the TT blade to tier 1 and the Despair to tier 3, the latter giving me a boring HoF. On Sunday night I passed the 5k mark in the Shinkiba quest. Half way done!

I have noticed in particular this week that Noobs do some funny things, I guess they are just experimenting I remember doing daft stuff myself. On one occasion this week while I was dealing with Daikiba at the Icarus wave event one ran in and attacked a Daik, he soon realised he was no match for it, did he run away? thank fully no instead he ran around the wave event area and eventually ran in circles around me by which time he was being chased by at least 6 Daik, needless to say he died but it gave me a slight problem as I had to deal with them all going for me. At least he didn’t drag them away, that can be frustrating, it is not always possible to find them and finish the wave thus bringing the event to a close.

On another occasion in the same location, one stood upon the ridge that surrounds the wave event area and shot some explosive projectiles at the Daik, bunches of them split off and raced toward him, some scaled the ridge and totalled him, I had to pick the Daik out of a very tight group and then leave the event area to track down those who had escaped. All quite amusing really, watching Noobs die :-). That gives me an idea, maybe I can arrange an event based around this, I will have to have a think.
